Excursion to Sunder Nursery for classes 1 and 2

Educational excursions not only enhance the student's knowledge but also broaden their outlook on the real world. An excursion to Sunder Nursery, a site with breathtaking monuments, paradise gardens and biodiversity, was organised for the students of classes I and II on 9th February 2024.

The students went on a heritage walk through Sunder Nursery, formerly called Azim Bagh. It provided a wholesome and enriching experience for them.

The 16th-century heritage park complex is adjacent to Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An excited group of 68 students accompanied by their teachers went on this excursion.

The students arrived at School bubbling with eagerness to participate in the outdoor fun activities at the Sunder Nursery. They walked into the garden of sprawling greens, symmetrical walkways and the majestic Mughal monument right in the middle of our line of sight. On the other side of the monument, geometrical flower beds and marble fountains made for a spectacle. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture gave this old Mughal garden a facelift and reopened it as a heritage park on 21st February 2018.

Sunder Nursery contains 15 heritage monuments, of which 6 are UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI)-protected Sunderwala Burj, Sunderwala Mahal and the Lakkar Wala Burj. It contains over 300 varieties of trees. During British rule, the nursery was established to grow experimental plants, giving it its current nursery status.

Students visited the heritage structures like Sunder Burj, Sunderwala Mahal and Lakkar Wala Burj within the Sunder Nursery. Students had a wonderful time in the children's play zone. They walked through mazes, slid down mounds and enjoyed various activities. The most exciting activities were the rope bridges and swings.

The trip was a memorable and informative one. It was a great experience for the students to see and explore the famous monument. The smiles on their faces expressed a lot more than words can describe.
