English Choral Recitation Competition
The Indian School-Second Shift had its first English Choral Recitation Competition on 7th September 2016. Beauty is the realm of poetry and the children got the opportunity to exhibit their skill and confidence, even as they enjoyed the beauty of expression, rhyme, rhythm and collaboration. All the classes put in great effort to prepare for this competition with poems of different genre were taken up by the participants.
The students presented on stage with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. Each section, by turn, recited a poem which they had prepared.
The poems recited were as follows :
Group A
Class I-A - Grandma and Me ( Author Anonymous)
Class I-B - The Little Seed, by Mabel Watts
Class I-C - Saw my teacher on a Saturday, by Dave Crawley
Class I-D -The Dentist and The Crocodile, by Roal Dahl.
Class II-A - Be glad your nose is on your Face, by Jack Prelutsky
Class II-B - Mumbo Jumbo ( Author Anonymous)

Group B
Class III The Rumble in the Jungle, by Giles Andrea
Class IV The Pied Piper of Hamelin, by Robert Browning
Class V- Lazy Lamb, by John Pharell
The students recited with expressions and actions and their efforts were applauded by other children and teachers. They also used creative handcrafted posters and slogans as accoutrements for their recitation.
Class I-C took the first position in Group A and class II-B came second. The sincere efforts of the classes were appreciated.
In Group B, class III who presented the poem, Rumble in the Jungle, with masks of different animals, stood first followed by class IV.
Head Teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas addressing the participants, applauded their efforts and gave a feedback on their performances too. This competition turned out to be a great success as the children got the opportunity to collaborate and work, learn about expressions, diction, rhythm and hard work, to present something beautiful with confidence. It was a great learning experience for all the children.
