Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Programme activities- Sikkim and Delhi

“A nation's culture resides in the heart and the soul of its people.” -Mahatma Gandhi

The students at The Indian School-Second Shift enthusiastically took part in the 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' programme announced by the Hon'ble Prime Minister on 31st October 2015, the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The programme aims to enhance interaction and mutual understanding between the people of different states by the concept of pairing.

To raise awareness about the state of Sikkim (paired with Delhi), a drawing and poster-making contest was held for students.

The students were divided into two groups. The elementary school students showed their creativity in the drawing competition and the middle school made posters.

This activity helped the students to appreciate and learn the rich heritage and culture, customs, and traditions of Sikkim through art. It enabled them to understand and apprehend the diversity that is India, thus fostering a sense of common identity.

It was an opportunity for the students to experience unity in diversity, which stands out as a tall flame of nationhood that needs to be nourished and cherished for the future.
