EARTH DAY celebrations

Earth Day is observed every year on the 22nd April. Marking its significance around the world as it relays the importance of the earth and its bounty available for all to enjoy. The students of The Indian School-Second Shift enthusiastically participated in a series of activities to mark the day of utmost importance, for all.
Students of Pre primary celebrated the power of green by singing mellifluous songs during morning assembly. They learnt about nature conservation being an essential factor in saving the earth.
Primary students conducted a 'Show and Tell' activity on the theme, " Save Earth" and showcased the importance of the day. It was followed by balloon printing and newspaper bag making as an eco-friendly initiative. A myriad of activities were conducted in the classes. Drawing, colouring, tearing and pasting activities were conducted for Pre primary students.
Students of class I observed the occasion by, singing a song highlighting the significance of planting saplings ‘Chana ko mitti mein dabaate toh paudha ban jaata’ was sung by the students. Newspaper craft and earbud painting were also done by them, instilling among all, the cause and effect of nature's bounty.
Class II created posters on Earth Day, promoting the importance of taking care of the planet. They made abstract posters promoting sustainability. By engaging in this activity, the children understood how their small contributions bring major differences in the environment.
Classes 4 indulged in an innovation-driven activity, involving all to make a model of the earth using materials available at home- clay, bottle caps and newspaper; engaging all to utilise their fine motor skills, and illustrative ideas for showcasing their perception of a greener earth.
Students of class 5 participated by making posters, discovering ideas on how to recover our planet, which encouraged the development of their intrapersonal and kinesthetic skills.
Students of classes 6 and 9 held a class discussion on the underlying importance of this day. Furthermore, they brainstormed over the achievements of major environmental movements. Which proved to be pivotal for protecting the earth’s natural resources for future generations.
Class 7 discussed the importance of preserving our environment and depicting it in their posters. The discussion improvised on the thought- sustainability is the path to prosperity for humanity and businesses alike. There is no longer a choice between going green and growing long-term profits.
Class 8 students celebrated Earth Day by engaging in an interactive discussion on the significance and need of observing Earth Day. They imparted unique ideas to make Earth a better place to live and introspected how they, as young citizens, can contribute to reclaiming the planet by following the principles of sustainable development.
The day concluded with a broader understanding among all students, leading to a greener path for a brighter and more prosperous future, Happy Greener Earth Day.
