Diwali Celebration “JOY OF GIVING” with Saint Hardyal Educational Orphan Welfare Society(SHEOS).
Date: 2/11/2021

The elderly play a precious role in our lives and we must not ignore their importance. Their support and unconditional love support our every step. Besides love, our elderly teach us moral lessons and values that build us up as responsible human beings.

Diwali is also known as the Festival of Light and is celebrated by lighting diyas or clay lamps to symbolise the the lifting of darkness and ignorance from our lives.

The origins of Diwali can be traced back to Hindu mythology when Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after completing his fourteen year long exile. Lamps are lit in welcome.

This year's Diwali celebration was organised jointly by The Indian School-Second Shift and The Indian School, together, at a home for the elderly, ‘Saint Hardyal Educational Orphan Welfare Society (SHEOS)', virtually on 2nd November 2021.

The event consisted of the singing of the Ram Stuti and playing musical games with the affectionate inmates. The atmosphere was filled with energy and joy. It was indeed a memorable day for all.

The function began with a warm and hearty welcome by our Speakers of the Day, Rishima Dubey and Asha of The Indian School. The occasion was graced by Acting Principal Ms Sukhmeen Cheema.

The event continued with the Ram Stuti by Upasana which filled the environment with positivity. This was followed by a creative guessing game.

Another game, “Tune the Lyrics” by Anshika of The Indian School-Second Shift was played in which the elderly were handed the incomplete lyrics of old melodies and they were to complete the songs by singing them! This greatly uplifted the spirits of everyone with nostalgia.

The event concluded with “Let’s Dance” where the elderly joyously tapped their feet to timeless songs of yore.
