Connecting across the continents- a video conference
On 10th August 10, 2016, the students of The Indian School-Second Shift took a great leap forward and broke the boundaries of their classrooms by participating in yet another teleconferencing session.
The students of The Indian School-Second Shift and The Indian School, together interacted on a video conference with the students of Port Fairy Consolidated School located on the south-western coast of Victoria in Australia. Filled with joy and excitement, the children on both sides saw themselves on the giant screen, waved their hands at each other and communicated effectively.

The session began with both schools exchanging information about their own schools. They were given an opportunity to ask questions and they loved asking about the festivals, food, pets, indigenous games etc of their counterparts! The children from both ends also shared their schools environmental sustainability programmes too. Our children seemed very taken up to hear about the kitchen garden, wind turbine, solar energy system etc., being actively undertaken by the Australian school.
It was amazing to see the budding connection and the students from both sides enjoy the experience of making friends and sharing information with such ease. It was also a great learning experience for both schools and we hope to have more many such interactions with other overseas schools, using technology as a tool of education.
