Classes 8 and 9 visit the School Eco Park
The students of classes 8 and 9 of The Indian School – Second Shift visited the School Eco Park on 14 December 2023, where they got an opportunity to enjoy greenery, landscape, and recreational activities in a natural setting.
Such excursions are designed to enhance physical stamina and help the child be one with his/her mind and body. They foster teamwork and collaboration, helping students develop essential social skills. They also help in improving physical strength, mobility, concentration, and response to stress and moods. The eco park provides a platform to boost the students’ mental strength, facilitate social interactions and develop interpersonal skills.
The students had fun playing badminton and volleyball. The students also engaged in mindfulness activities, like chess and UNO, which bestow improved focus and concentration. Spending time in a natural setting and engaging in interesting activities helped them reduce stress and promoted mental well-being. The excursion also involved observing organic farming, where the children explored rows of fresh vegetables. They picked fresh spinach, coriander, mustard, raddish, beetroot, kohlrabi, cauliflowers, turnips, bottle gourds and brinjals in great delight! The excursion broke the traditional way of learning and gave students a chance to have hands-on experience. In this way, they exercised their spatial, visual, kinesthetic and naturalistic intelligences.
It was an opportunity for the city bred children to build a connection with nature and take a break from academics, promoting a healthy balance between studies and leisure.
