‘Not all classrooms have four walls.’ - Sonya Chappell

Nothing teaches us more than exploring the world for oneself. Keeping this in mind, an excursion was organised for the students of classes 1 and 2 to National Bal Bhavan on 1 December 2022.

Located in the heart of Delhi, National Bal Bhavan is a beautiful lush green space for children. Laced with numerous engaging activities, creative arts, literary projects, photography and a museum, the centre provides a wonderful platform for children to express and engage with their ideas. Besides the fun activities, the bhavan also has an informative museum which offers non-formal learning opportunities and knowledge to the children.

To begin with, students were introduced to folk stories of child warriors in the Gaurav Gatha section. They were familiarised with the cultures of different countries through the medium of dolls and tableaux. The enthusiastic school group was thrilled to visit the art and craft gallery where the exhibits ranged from craftwork utilising waste material to printing and clay modelling. Students also witnessed an impressive collection of paintings and crafts reflecting India’s great heritage.

The aquarium in the museum, delighted the young visitors as they laid eyes on several species for the first time.

Next, the group visited the traffic park located on the campus. They were briefed about the do’s and don’ts of driving and walking on the road. A pledge on Road Safety was also taken by the students. The road safety activity proved to be very informative for the students as they learnt about traffic rules and road signs.

The next stop was to see the birds on the campus. Seeing the species of birds and listening to their melodious chirping enthralled the little ones.

Soon, it was time to board the bus and head back to School. It was a fun filled educational trip which provided the students with a joyful and enriching learning experience in an outdoor setting.
