CLASS VIII explores ISRO's journey at Nehru Planetarium
On November 29 2023, students visited the Nehru Planetarium for an interactive session titled "ISRO's Story: From Bicycles and Bullocks to Chandrayaan 3" in its Sky Theatre. The immersive experience provided a captivating narrative of India's space exploration journey, tracing its humble beginnings to the ambitious Chandrayaan 3 mission.
The session commenced with a historical overview, illustrating the inception of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and its evolution from modest means, including bicycles and bullock carts, to becoming a global space player. The students were enthralled by the tales of perseverance, innovation, and determination that marked India's ascent in the realm of space science.
The Sky Theatre, equipped with state-of-the-art projection technology, brought the narrative to life with stunning visuals and informative commentary. Students were able to witness the milestones of ISRO's journey, from the launch of Aryabhata to the Mars Orbiter Mission, fostering a profound appreciation for India's contributions to space exploration.
The focal point of the visit centred around the examination of Chandrayaan 3, the most recent lunar mission that marked a historic milestone in India's progress in lunar exploration. Students engaged in a vibrant discussion with experts, posing insightful questions and gaining valuable insights into the scientific and technological aspects of the mission.
Following the enlightening session, a special attraction awaited the students—the Hydro Rocketry experiment. This hands-on activity allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, building and launching water rockets. The experiment not only added a fun element to the visit but also reinforced key concepts related to propulsion, aerodynamics, and experimentation.
In conclusion, the visit to the Nehru Planetarium proved to be an enriching experience for the students. The combination of an interactive session on ISRO's remarkable journey and the engaging Hydro Rocketry experiment left an indelible mark, inspiring curiosity and a deeper interest in space science among the participants.
