Class V visits the Indian Air Force Museum

On 16 February 2024, 48 students of class 5 along with their teachers embarked on a captivating journey to The Indian Air Force Museum. This excursion aimed at exploring the rich heritage and gaining insights into our country's aviation prowess.

The students were excited to view a diverse collection of aircraft, weaponry and artefacts that highlighted the evolution and progress of the IAF over the years.

They were awestruck by the extensive display of aircraft. The iconic fighters like the MiG-21 and Sukhoi Su-30MKI marvelled the students to transport aircraft like the Avro and helicopters such as the Mi-8, the museum offered a comprehensive overview of the IAF's fleet.

The students cherished the outdoor exhibits featuring a remarkable collection of aircraft, including fighter jets, transport planes, missiles, helicopters, and vintage aircraft used by the IAF. They were astonished to view an extensive collection of aircraft.

Later, they eagerly navigated the museum's indoor galleries filled with informative displays, including models, photographs, and artefacts showcasing the history and achievements of the IAF. As they explored the gallery, they read about the significant milestones, operations, and notable personalities in the IAF's journey.

The students were thrilled at the evolution of the aircraft and their seating arrangements. They were overjoyed to view photographs of Wg. Cdr. Rakesh Sharma, India's first spaceman and those of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, PVC (Indo-Pak War 1971).

While the students explored the museum, they reflected upon the brave men and women of the IAF who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation and paid homage to them.

Soon after, some students felt inspired to become pilots and serve the nation. They discussed the relevance of the Indian Air Force and their contribution in various wars such as the Indo-Pak conflicts.  

This excursion was a memorable and enriching experience for the students. It provided them with valuable insights into India's aviation history, the role of the IAF in national security and the technological advancements in aerospace. It also fostered in them a sense of pride, humility and patriotism towards their nation.
