Christmas celebrations with peers in Italy in virtual mode

“Christmas will always be as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand.”- Anonymous

Virtual sessions provide our students with a wide platform to interactand learn from peers all over the world about new cultures and festivities. This year the students of class 4A collaborated with their peers at the Istituto Marymount in Rome alongwitj and their teacher Ms Amy Alison Bivin on 21st December 2021.

The session began with warm greetings followed by an introduction of the respective schools. Ahana Arora of class 4A spoke about our School using a Power Point presentation. The students on the other side in turn described their school and showed us the Christmas decorations made by them using recyclable materials. Our students were impressed with  the ideas.

The session continued with a sharing of Christmas traditions in both countries. At our end, Ayman, Niyanta and Arlin discussed how Christmas in India is a melting pot of different cultures. With a Santa mask on, Aahil Shafiq narrated a short story about Santa Claus in a beautiful presentation.

Our students,  dressed  in red Santa caps, holding festive props, enthusiastically presented a self-composed medley of all-time favourite carols like “Twelve Days of Christmas”, “Joy to the world”, “Jingle Bells”, “Long time ago in Bethlehem”, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “We wish you a Merry Christmas”. Akshat, Sarah and Samriddhi along on great joy.

The peers across the screen joined in the carols and even sang songs in French which were thoroughly enjoyed.

It was a delight to note that the students not only learned about holiday traditions in both countries but also shared a promise of friendship through such collaboration. The story of Christmas was also shared by the students of the guest school.

lThe carols and laughter of the children filled the air with festivity. The session concluded with a promise to continue with an exchange of cards and a continued collaboration in the festive season.
