Come December and a festive spirit fills the year. From embellishing conifer trees to penning down sweet wishes, people begin their Christmas preparations months in advance.
The primary wing of The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated the spirit of Christmas on 20th December, 2017 by inviting the children of Palna to join in their festivities.
This was our first Christmas Carnival. The students were excited. The skating rink was decorated with balloons and streamers and Christmas messages all around.
Timeless carols like the Twelve Days of Christmas, We Three Kings, Long time ago in Bethlehem, Rudolf the red nosed reindeer and Jingle bells beautifully sung the choir rang in the Yuletide spirit!
[gallery link="none" ids="13611,13612,13613"]Students participated in the various inter house competitions like Christmas tree decoration, a sledge of wishes, stocking decoration and decorating a Santa face, using waste material, handmade items and so on. The children reused old chart paper to make their Christmas trees, used empty match boxes, shoe boxes, egg crates, cola bottles, paper plates, shuttle cocks, socks etc to create accessories like bells, Santa himself, the sledge, a snowman, gifts, stars bows and other embellishments.
The carnival was meticulously planned by the young students with the help of their teachers. In fact the games were independently organised by the children themselves, from hosting the games to acting Santa- it was all their effort.
Ms. Dashmeet Kaur was the judge for the craft competition while the sledge of wishes event was judged by Ms. Sitara Dhingra.
Saturn House stood first in the tree decoration, stocking decoration and sledge of wishes while Jupiter House stood first in the Santa face competition. The second position was secured by Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn Houses respectively.
The joy of the children knew no bounds when the children of Palna joined in the carnival. It was a treat to see how promptly bonds got built between the children. Instantly the little visitors were made to feel comfortable. Our children played games, danced and served cake and refreshments. All the primary students enjoyed every bit of this feast, taking away from it the rich values of sharing and caring.
