Awareness workshop for classes 8 and 9 on Cyber Security
“Security used to be an inconvenience sometimes, but now it’s a necessity all the time”- Martina Navratilova
In the jet age of the 21st century when media and telecommunication have taken giant leaps, any information across the globe is available at the click of a button. With a boom in mobile phones and e-communication, we have reached the stage of 5G and virtual reality.
Although the spread of cybernetics has benefited the rich and tech savvy youth of today, it has also had a negative effect on the morality of our society. Newspapers today are filled with incidents of cyber crime.
A session was held on January 25th, 2023 for classes 8 and 9, for awareness building about cyber security by Ms Shikha Dhyani, computer science teacher at our School. During the session, the students were enlightened about the various kinds of impact of technology in our day-to-day lives, starting from the theft of data, piracy, defamation and blackmail, hacking and the abuse of intellectual property rights.
The students were cautioned about the need to be careful on the internet as our digital footprints and browsing habits are not erasable. We must think twice before every click and the five most efficient cyber defenders are: Anticipation, Education, Detection, Reaction and Resilience.
How much and how far one can get affected is beyond our purview, hence it is time we keep a tight leash on our activities. The authorities should also rise from their slumber. Stringent laws, exemplary punishment and the support of every individual can arrest cyber crime.
