Army Day celebrations at TFS
Warriors are not born, they are made in the Indian army.
To salute the Indian army, the students at The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated 73rd Army Day, with manifold activities to pay homage to the indomitable guardians of our frontiers.
The special day is observed on 15 January each year to commemorate the taking over of celebrated Lieutenant General KM Cariappa as Commander-in-Chief of the Indian forces from General Sir Francis Butcher in 1949.
A special assembly was organised for the students to demonstrate the significance of the occasion. A short video presentation was followed by a craft activity in which the children crafted soldier puppets with the help of paper cutouts and finger prints. They also sang ‘Sare Jahan se Achha’ as an appreciation for the oneness of and their love for their country.
The students of classes I and II took part in the activities planned for the day in great zest. The celebration started with a brief introduction of Indian army and its role in our lives through a video clip. The teachers explained the heroic efforts of the Indian war heroes with stories of their valour and bravery. The students drew sketches of their perceptions of the Indian army and those of 'Amar Jawan Jyoti '.
To celebrate our pride for the brave jawans who set the example of selfless sacrifice, service and brotherhood, the students of class III wrote expressive patriotic poems and urged their countrymen to stay united and fight against terrorism for the safety of all mankind.
Service of the motherland- to embody this message of patriotism, the students of classes IV and V made short self composed speeches and engaged in poetry recitation celebrating the Indian soldier.
Saluting the outstanding role of the Indian army, the students of classes VI, VII and VIII paid tribute with slogan writing and poster designing on the theme.
