An Afternoon With Quack!
Be like a duck: calm on the surface, paddling quickly underneath.
Field trips are a special joy for many school kids, as they are not only intriguing but also offer an opportunity to get out and break the monotony of the classroom. On that note, a field trip to the Sanjay Lake, commonly known as the Duck Park, was organised for the students of Preschool on 29th December, 2015.
Adjoining the residential area of Laxmi Bai Nagar in South Delhi, Sanjay Lake is a manmade lake with a park that is home to many indigenous trees and has a well laid out lush green track that makes for an amazing spot for walking enthusiasts.

As we entered the Park, the little visitors were thrilled at the sight of the swings' area and immediately rushed to the colourful slides and swings to burn up their energy! The lush park provided a generous spread for our active tiny tots to run and stretch.
After spending time on the swings and the lawns, we headed to the duck pond where we met a brace of quacking ducks! Although the lake is no longer flowing along the long park, the park authorities keep the pond filled for the ducks. Some ducks could be seen paddling in the water, others roamed in the open. As they waddled around the park, the little ones couldnt stop asking, Can we feed the ducks?, Look! That duck is drinking water from the hose!
Soon the kids were comfortable under the bright winter sun and the lunch boxes flipped open for a quick munch. In between, some of our naughtier little ones kept getting up to run after the ducks, to catch them. Their anticipation had reached its peak.
After a fun-filled day in the fresh air, at last it was time to board our buses and get back to School. The chatter in the bus was exciting, as every childs recollection was different. It was the sense of wonder and joy of discovery at the quacking birds they saw, that was an education.
