Activity-based Learning workshop for Pre-primary teachers

A stimulating classroom environment requires a skilled teacher. Keeping this in mind, a workshop was conducted by Ms. Sonia Relia, an expert on Activity Based Teaching, on 29th March16. The workshop shed valuable light on 'Effective Communication and Effective Classroom Management', along with several play-and-learn activities that could make classroom teaching interesting. Ms. Relia has 16 years of experience in designing activity based learning programmes for the pre-school and pre-primary levels. Her workshop aimed at sharing information and techniques to manage large activity-based classrooms with limited time and budgets, balancing the time tested traditional strengths of our educational system with modern classroom techniques. The pre-primary teachers were not only informed about the latest methodologies used in teaching pre-primary, but also got involved in creating learning material. The teachers participated in activities to understand how to go through rhymes and stories, and for the subject matter how to connect language and actions to clearly instruct the children. Ms. Relia emphasised the changing paradigms of pre-primary education and the importance of going digital in pre-school, while balancing hands-on activity with it. At the end of the training, the teachers learned to empower classroom resources and how to use them to the optimum advantage in order to achieve specific educational goals.
