A tour of the Street Art Festival

A curated tour was organised for students of art at the WIP STREET ART SHOW on 20 February, 2016 at the Concor ICD in Tughlaqabad. The Start India Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works on art projects in public spaces. The aim of the foundation is to make art accessible to a wider audience by taking it out of the conventional gallery space and embedding it in the cities we live in making art truly democratic and for everyone. Established in 2014, the foundation has since done 4 festivals across Delhi and Mumbai, creating some iconic landmarks within both cities.

Artists from Australia, Switzerland, Poland, USA, Italy, France, Japan, Mexico and India have created and displayed their masterpieces with a particularly unique visualisation of connectivity with nature. One of the many works was that of Daku, an artist from India, who has imprinted ' BREATHE' on a wall in toxic ink to articulate anxiety from the pollution and carbon emission which pervades our city.

The tour was an enriching experience and exposure to the the modern art scene and will possibly tempt students to consider art as a career!
