World Nature Conservation Day activities

World Nature Conservation Day is celebrated on July 28 annually. The occasion was observed at The Indian School – Second Shift with an aim to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable practices and encourage people to adopt behaviours that reduce adverse impacts on the environment.

Teachers sensitised the students of classes 5, 6 and 7 about the beauty of Mother Nature and the crucial role that she plays in our lives. It is impossible to imagine life on an earth which has a spoiled natural environment.  Hence, the need to take appropriate steps to conserve nature in her most pristine form.

The students of class 5 observed this day through awareness- raising activities on nature conservation. They planted trees, removed litter and promoted sustainable practices. They drew colourful posters with inspiring messages written on them. An informative short video on the agents of pollution and ways of minimising them were shown to the students in their classrooms.

The students of class 6 discussed the various contributions that we, as humans can make to protect our planet. They decided to increase consciousness amongst family and friends about the significance of nature conservation.

The students of class 7 celebrated this day by watching an informative video on the need for promoting a healthy environment and preserving natural resources to maintain a stable and healthy society. They understood that saving plants and animals that face the threat of extinction is one of the primary goals of nature conservation. It also underlined the need to safeguard the environment for future generations.

Students actively participated with great enthusiasm and took a pledge to conserve nature for themselves and for the coming generations, and to make the world a better place to breathe. The day concluded with the message of John James Audubon- "A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children."
