World Day against Child Labour activities

The change starts within each one of us and ends only when all children are free to be children.” – Craig Kielburger

World Day against Child Labour is observed every year on 12 June. It aims to raise awareness about the exploitation of children as child labour. Children are vulnerable by age and especially so when made to participate in hazardous activities.

The theme for World Day Against Child Labour 2022 is “Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour." The theme is dedicated to the cause of increasing investment in social protection systems and schemes to establish solid social protection for protecting children from becoming child labour.

Students of classes 6 to 8 of  'The Indian School-Second Shift' celebrated this day by making informative and thought-provoking posters on the theme. Making posters and writing slogans, the students were able to better comprehend why it is critical to stop the child labour practice.

Child labour destroys the future of children. These children are the future of our nation, hence the country is at stake due to the persistence of child labour. Students of class VIII prepared posters on the topic, “Stop Child Labour” to exercise their basic fundamental right of speaking against it.

The aim of these activities was to introduce students to the social evil called child labour and to have them realise the importance of education in every child’s life.
