Virtual Session With Peers In Sweden For Class 6B
In the words of Hu Jintao, “Culture is the window reflecting the history, literature and spiritual world of a nation. Cultural exchange is a bridge to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of different nations.”
The afternoon of 12 November 2021 turned out to be an extremely fascinating and enlightening experience for class 6B with their English teacher Ms Kanika Batheja. They attended a collaborative session via Google Meet with an English teacher Ms Diana Hallberg and her students at the Korsangsskolan School in Enkoping, Sweden.
The excitement was infectious when the students saw each other for the cultural and literary exchange. The peers broke the ice by introducing themselves and their countries. They then played Mystery Country with each other prompting the opposite side with living clues to help recognise the country to which they belong! This activity helped the children learn more about the culture of the opposite side and identify the geographical location. This was followed by an animated exchange of in-depth information about traditions, festivals and cuisine of both places through power point presentations.
Our students shared information about out rich literature. It was a proud feeling that the young Swedes recognized some of the Indian writers and even said they had read their works. In continuation, they discussed their school and classes. The budding friendship was noticeable through smiles which were ample on each face!
The session helped strengthen listening, speaking and observatory skills. It was an enriching experience for all. Both sides promised to meet again and get to know each other more.
