Virtual Interaction with an educator in Bangladesh for Pre Primary Swan

On 15th December 2021, PP SWAN of The Indian School -Second Shift interacted with peers at the Maple Leaf International School situated in the capital city of Bangladesh- Dhaka, in a virtual session on Google Meet. The Bangladeshi educator,  Mr Bichitro Sinha and  PP Swan class teacher Ms Reena Wahi facilitated the virtual interaction. The session aimed to familiarise the little ones with the local foods of both countries.

The young students eagerly waited for the session to commence. In fact their eagerness to make new friends and learn about a different culture knew no bounds.

The virtual session began with Nouman warmly welcoming the Bangladeshi students and Mr Bichitro Sinha. He proudly held up our national flag. Shankyanii and Gaurika sang the national anthem. Samriddhi Sharma shared information about the food we get from animals, birds and fish. Naman informed us about foos preparations made from milk and the benefits of drinking milk. Jai Vardhan elaborated on the food we obtain from plants. Lastly, Aaditya described the importance of good and healthy food.

The impressive presentation of the little ones drew much appreciation and applause.

Next, it was the turn of the students from Bangladesh who told us the benefits of their national fruit, the Jackfruit. Mr Bichitro explained to the audience that rice, fish, wheat, maize, potato, pulses and oilseeds make up the major food in Bangladesh.

He showed our little students the varieties of mangoes that are grown in Bangladesh. Mr Bichitro put forth questions like, ' What is the national fruit of India?' and 'Who is the prime minister of India?'. He also asked 'What is the national animal of India?' The little ones answered correctly and confidently. Their excitement doubled when they realised that the Bengal tiger was the national animal of Bangladesh too!

Our little students curiously asked a few questions about the weather in Bangladesh and the local language. The session concluded with Mr Bichitro thanking our little ones.

The session helped strengthen speaking, listening and observation skills. It was an enriching experience for the students where they learnt about the food and culture of a neighbouring country on a virtual platform.
