Virtual classroom for Pre Primary with an Australian educator

The students of Pre Primary Swan of The Indian School-Second Shift had a riveting virtual session via Google Meet on 3rd December 2021 with an educator in Sydney, Australia.

After a formal greeting and introduction, the students were prompted to speak  about the folk tales of India which included ‘The Panchatantra‘ and ‘Akbar - Birbal’. By turn the children narrated  stories and also recited rhymes learnt in class.

Ms Anu, the Australian teacher discussed Australian heritage. She spoke about the native Australian aboriginal people and their beliefs and way of life. She shared images and interesting facts about famous spots in Australia like Bondi Beach, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera Housen and others. She also mentioned that the Australian summer sport is cricket and the winter sport is football. The national flower of Australia is the Golden Wattle. She said that the native people in Australia are Aborigines and speak more than 200 languages and have different dialects!

Australia is a multicultural country and practices inclusion and diversity in every aspect. In the summer, people love to go to the beache, enjoy barbeque and their favourite desserts are Pavlova and chocolate Lamingtons.

The little students were amazed to learn about Australian culture. They enjoyed the intriguing narrative and responded with an enthusiastic presentation of their own. The exchange ingrained a sense of preserving cultural heritage and the young students got a chance to gain new knowledge about the culture of a foreign place.

The session ended with a famous lullaby- Inanya Capuana sung by Ms Anu. The children thoroughly enjoyed the lullaby and then the excited children quizzed Ms Anu about Australia to get even more information, and she answered their questions patiently and happily.

It was an informative and enlightening session for all our inquisitive learners.
