Teacher workshop on using blending techniques in the classroom

Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.-John Cotton

Macmillan Publishers organised an interactive session, Meet the Educator on 6th April, 2019. The session was aimed at brainstorming on blended teaching techniques in the 21st century classroom. Ms. Sarita, Ms. Shikha Yadav and Ms. Yahvi Seth attended the session. There were teachers from other schools and Macmillans subject heads.

It was a interactive session that dealt with discussing how we can make the teaching- learning process more engaging by inculcating various blending techniques. These could comprise blending 2 subjects or incorporating digital tools. We learnt that many a time we have things around us but fail to see them.

In order to organise a blended lesson, one doesnt always need professional or big tools; simple day to day objects can be of use too. We brainstormed subjectwise and levelwise as to what the need of present-day classroom is. Digital tools like skype, animation, video, e-books, smart classrooms, presentations, audio aides etc are some things that were most talked of. All of us by turn, then shared our views on how important blended techniques are, what we follow in our classrooms and what else we would like to do. There was a lot of learning.

The session concluded with the Macmillan subject experts asking the teachers about their expectations from a publisher like themselves.

The teachers came back with a resolve to incorporate more blended techniques in the classroom to ensure that our students enjoy learning.
