Frontiers Education organised a debate training workshop for teachers on 2 February, 2018 at the GD Goenka School in Sarita Vihar. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Thishin Moodley, coordinator for the Worlds Scholars Cup in South Africa. The topic for the workshop was, Training students for competitive debates. Ms. Nilanjana Chatterjee and Ms. Yahvi Seth attended the workshop.
The workshop started with a brief introduction by Mr. Moodley who he went on to speak about debating. He said that debates were a kind of thinking activity that leads to critical and out-of -the-box thinking and increases general awareness. He shared with us the various kinds of debates and the dos and donts while training children to debate.
[gallery link="none" ids="14088,14089,14090,14091,14092,14093"]The workshop turned into an interactive and brainstorming session when the teachers were given topics and asked to respond with arguments for an against. The workshop ended with a video of the global round of the World Scholar Cup at Hanoi last year.
It was a morning full of fun and knowledge which we now plan to share with our students in the classroom too.
