A story telling workshop was organised by the INTACH Heritage Education and Communication Services (HECS) in collaboration with Speaking Tigers Publishing on Tuesday, 6th August, 2019. A few students of classes 3 – 5 of The Indian School-Second Shift attended the workshop and were a part of the release of three books titled, Off we go! To Delhi, to Delhi; Off we go! To Mumbai, to Mumbai; Off we go! To Kolkata, to Kolkata by Speaking Tigers Publishing and Intach HECS joint publication.

The Story-Telling session was conducted by a well known children’s author and Bal Sahitya Puruskar winner, Ms. Paro Anand. She has authored several books for children and holds a world record for helping over three thousand children compose the world’s longest newspaper.

The workshop started with an interactive session conducted by Ms. Purnima Datt, Principal Director, HECS, Intach Delhi who made a presentation on the heritage of India, types of heritage and what makes it rich and unique. It was followed by a Heritage quiz based on three cities, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Our students AAttyaksh Rajput, Karan Rawal, Arohi Sen and Hrishita Jangra bagged four rewards for answering correctly. Kudos to our students for winning the maximum prizes!

The authors of three books, Ms. Arthy Muthanna Singh and Ms. Mamta Nainy interacted with the students. Our enthusiastic readers witnessed the book release and also bought copies of the book autographed by the authors. Subsequently, students got to compose a rap poem uinder the guidance of Ms. Paro Anand. They sang their rhythmical poems and also got appreciated by everyone.

The workshop culminated with a word of encouragement from Chairman, Maj. General (retd.) L.K. Gupta and the distribution of certificates to the students. The students came back carrying ideas, memories and knowledge of how each one can contribute to preserve our heritage for posterity.
