Special Assembly on West Bengal by class 4A

School assemblies are a very valuable tool of peer learning where the children themselves research and share with their peers. In the process they acquire poise.

The topic of the series of special assemblies is the states along the east coast of India, and on the occasion of Ravindra Jayanti on 11 May, 2018, the students of class IVA conducted a special assembly on West Bengal.

Sezal welcomed the audience and began the assembly with a power point presentation on the eminent personalities of West Bengal, namely, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Jamini Roy, Rabindranath Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Amartya Sen and Pranab Mukherjee. The other speakers were Arav, Aradhya, Aratrika, Siddhi, Arohi, Prachurya, Sadab and Karttik.

[gallery link="none" ids="15504,15505,15506"] They group then recited the famous poem by Gurudev which continues to stir us-Where the wind is without fear. Abia, Aratrika, Inshera, Anwita, Siddhi, Hrishita, Sadab, Aradhya and Sezal presented a dance composed to Bankim Chandra Chatterjees Vande Mataram.

Class teacher, Ms. Nilanjana Chatterjee spoke to share some facts relating to the culture and heritage of West Bengal. She narrated anecdotes from the lives of its great personalities and sang Tagores celebrated song Jodi tor daak shuney keo na ashe along with the children. As we know this great sing greatly motivated young Indians to unite for freedom.

The assembly concluded with the national anthem.
