Special Assembly on Nelson Mandela Day by class 3C

“Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world.”

Inspired by the life of Nelson Mandela, on July 17, 2021, the students of class 3C presented a virtual assembly on Nelson Mandela Day.

As customary, the assembly began with the news headlines and thought for the day. The teacher then shared a presentation on Mandela and explained that the UN General Assembly named 18 July as a day to honour the great contribution of the late leader. In South Africa and elsewhere around the world, the occasion is celebrated by volunteering and contributing to community service.

Utkarsh Mishra and Navya Sinha recited an insightful poem on how each one of us is responsible for our own actions. We are the masters of our fate and the captains of our souls. Therefore, each one of us must do good deeds as Nelson Mandela always believed and preached, and not just wait for others to lead the way.

This was followed by Mandela's famous speech by Viraj Jaiswal. In this speech, he spoke of  the struggle for democracy internationally and the promotion of culture and peace throughout the world.

Satwik Srivastava concluded the assembly with the School song. It was a wonderfully enriching experience for the students as they learnt about Mandela, the man who changed the world.
