Special assembly on Baisakhi by Pre primary Swan

Amidst the rich harvest across the greenery

Baisakhi has arrived in all its majesty So lets rejoice and celebrate in style

India is a land of many cultures which blend into each other seamlessly. Each region has its own way of celebrating the new year usually when the crops are harvested. In Punjab, this day is celebrated as Baisakhi.

To give an insight of this day, the students of Pre-Primary Swan of The Indian School-Second Shift, celebrated Baisakhi at a special assembly on 12th April, 2019. The entire school campus was immersed in the spirit of festivity as the little ones came dressed in ethnic attire representing the Punjabi way of life.

The significance of Baisakhi was highlighted in a beautiful narrative delivered by the students followed by a captivating Punjabi folk dance. Poems Dekho Hai Aaya Baisakhi Ka Tauhar and dum dum baisakhi has come were also sung by the students as gratitude to the farmers.

Speaking on the occasion Ms. Rajika Dixit, Head mistress, congratulated and appreciated all the students for putting up such a scintillating and vivacious performance. The children were also made aware of the importance of this festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture.

The motive umderlying the celebrations was to apprise the children of the varied cultures and heritage of India. These engaging and fun filled activities were planned in a manner that students went home feeling confident and connected to each other, and equally as a deeply valued member of our school community.
