Special assembly for Dussehra-PS and PP

FESTIVALS promote diversity, they bring neighbours into dialogue, they increase creativity, they offer opportunities for civic pride and they improve our general psychological well-being. In short, they make cities better places to live in. David Binder.

Dussehra is a festival of the victory of good over evil. This exhilarating celebration across India is known by different names across the country. It is believed that it was on this occasion that Lord Rama vanquished Ravana, the demon King of Lanka to rescue Sita.

Various enactments of the Ramayana as Ram Leela are performed preceding Dussehra. These dramatisations are based on the great epic.

The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Dussehra in the Pre Primary and Primary wings with performances by the students. The children presented a dance invocation to Goddess Durga with delightful precision and poise. This was followed by a melodious bhajan sung in praise of Lord Rama.

Finally, there was the exuberant Ram Leela which touched every heart in the young audience.
