Sarvodaya Diwas 202627

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” — Mahatma Gandhi

The Indian School – Second Shift observed its customary Sarvodaya Diwas on 1st October 2026 with joy, devotion and gratitude, honouring its grandparents and the timeless values of Mahatma Gandhi. Sarvodaya, meaning “the upliftment of all,” beautifully reflected the spirit of love, service and compassion that united generations on this special day.

The celebration began with a graceful Saraswati Vandana, followed by a warm welcome address.

Students of Bal Vatika 1 and Pre-Primary presented a graceful dance to the enduring bhajan, “Vaishnav Jan To,” reflecting Bapu’s values of kindness, humility and empathy. The School choir then rendered soulful Gandhi bhajans, filling the auditorium with peace and devotion.

A heartwarming play by Class 6 highlighted the wisdom, love and guidance of grandparents. In “Bapu’s Magic Bag,” young learners came forward by turn, to share values cherished by Gandhiji, such as truth, non-violence, simplicity and compassion.

The grandparents enthusiastically participated in fun games, followed by sharing their experiences, where they shared memories, life lessons and words of love for their grandchildren. Ms Shivani presented a beautiful poem as a heartfelt tribute to grandparents.

As Mahatma Gandhi said, “Where there is love, there is life.”

The celebration concluded with the School song. To add warmth to the occasion, special Gujarati jalebi-ganthia and masala tea were served to the grandparents, creating a delightful moment of sharing, togetherness and celebration.

Sarvodaya Diwas 2026 beautifully reinforced the timeless values of Mahatma Gandhi and the irreplaceable role of grandparents in nurturing young hearts and minds.
