Road Safety workshop by Delhi Police for classes 4 and 5
‘Road sense is the offspring of courtesy and the parent of safety.’
The Indian School-Second Shift prioritises the safety of its students. Keeping this in mind, workshops on road safety were organised on 3 September 2020 and 9 September 2020 for the students of classes 4 and 5 respectively. They were conducted by Mr. Sunil Sen, head constable of the Delhi Traffic Police, as a part of an ongoing road safety campaign.
Constable Sen familiarised the students about the various traffic rules that are compulsory on the road. He spoke about the important safety precautions to be kept in mind taken while walking on the pavement or the sides of the road and while crossing roads, to ensure their safety as well as others.
The danger of boarding buses or vans in haste when leaving home or school were was also explained.
The students were advised to use foot overbridges, subways, etc. when required. Constable Sen explained the significance of the different road signs and traffic rules.
The speaker then presented a PPT to reiterate his points. Traffic signals, road safety procedures and the implications of violating these rules and regulations were illustrated in the presentation. The valuable session concluded with a question- answer round where the queries were patiently clarified by Mr Sen.
The students appreciated the new knowledge they had acquired and promised to assimilate it in their daily lives. They also volunteered to educate everyone at home so that each one stays alert and informed as vigilant citizens.
