REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS @TFS
Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it, it flies because of the breath of the soldiers who died protecting it.
In a tribute to the sacrifices of our great patriots and to introduce the contents of the constitution, a special assembly was conducted by the students of class V of The Indian School-Second Shift on 25th January 2019.
The assembly began with an introduction of why Republic Day is observed. What does it signify? As we have heard, the government is initiating a campaign to incorporate constitutional values in the school curriculum to familiarise children with the larger goals of our country. The assembly made a start in this direction.

The meaning of Fundamental Rights as enjoyed by every citizen of India was graphically demonstrated in a skit where the various rights were broadly told as a role play. The duties of citizens were also similarly told.
A dance performance by a group of girls of the class, offered homage to the tricolour, as did a patriotic poem recited by Dhairya Saran of class VI.
The spirit of equality which is a pre eminent aspect of our constitution is amply proven by the fact that the highest positions of authority are occupied by persons, often belonging to the less privileged sections. This was sought to be conveyed in a video.
A short video on the hardships faced by Dr. BR Ambedkar, to achieve what he believed in-beginning in his village and uptil the framing of law for the land, was truly inspiring for the children. Nothing can come in ones way if one seeks to accomplish, in truth and with sincerity, was the lesson conveyed.
What is the constitution? Its content and its special features were explained in a PPT. The assembly concluded with a pledge and the national anthem, leaving the young audience stirred by a spirit of patriotism and duty.
