Republic Day celebrations across the classes

“ Freedom in Mind, Faith in Words, Pride in our Heart, Memories in our Souls. Let’s Salute the Nation on Republic Day.”

The Indian School - Second Shift celebrated India’s 73rd Republic Day with immense patriotic fervour virtually. A plethora of activities was organised to infuse the spirit of unity, brotherhood and patriotism amongst the students.

The students of Pre-school presented "State Representation” on the occasion of Republic Day. The children were dressed in the traditional attire of the different states of India, like Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and so on.

They spoke by turn a few lines about the state they represented including the culture, food and way of life there. There was a dance presentation to the popular song, "Nanha Munna rahi hu" by Keshav Kayat. In the end,  the children sang the national anthem and offered homage to those who made sacrifices for the motherland.

The students of Pre Primary made badges in a craft activity. They also decorated a corner in their homes with tricolour balloons. The students were told a motivational story named “How to Salute”. The students were sensitised about the National Bravery Awards which are presented each Republic Day to children from all over India for their meritorious acts of bravery.

To commence the celebration, little blooming tiny tots presented a scintillating dance to the patriotic song “ Desh Rangeela “.

Class 1 students made replicas of our national bird, the peacock, using origami paper and tricolour fans using craft paper. They also participated in a quiz on the national symbols of India.

Class 2 students hosted a special assembly to commemorate Republic Day. By turn they spoke about the significance of Republic Day. They were also shown a video on the same. This was followed by the patriotic song, Hum Hindustani sung by Vedanshi.

Class 3 presented a special assembly on the occasion of Republic Day. The students presented the folk dances of the different states of India. They also made beautiful presentations on how the national festival is celebrated at Rajpath each year.

The students of class 4 composed beautiful drawings depicting their idea of patriotism. The art helped bring home to them how the smallest effort plays a huge role for a nation. Students also engaged in creative writing on the topic 'Virtual Parade' as they shared glimpses of the same in their writings.

During the classes, they discussed the significance of the occasion and sang patriotic songs remembering the heroism of the freedom fighters. They were told about the fundamental rights and duties enjoyed by citizens of India. 

To celebrate Republic Day, the students of class 5 were shown videos to explain the significance of the occasion. This was followed by a class quiz. All the students were excited to participate in the quiz and learn more about this day.

The students of class 6 presented videos showcasing the history and significance of Republic Day followed by a motivational talk highlighting the duties and rights of citizens.

The students undertook essay and slogan writing as a Republic Day activity.

Class 7 and 8 students were told about the significance of Republic Day. Students were shown a video describing important facts and the significance of the occasion. 

The constitution gave India and her citizens their due place and recognition in the world. We became a democratic, socialist republic, with our own set of laws and government. We became our own rulers. It is a day that invokes feelings of humility and dedication to the tall ideals of all the great leaders that made it possible for us to enjoy the freedom that we do today.
