Raksha Bandhan celebrations in Pre primary

Raksha Bandhan is one of the most endearing ways to celebrate the bond between brothers and sisters. To strengthen this bond, the Pre school and Pre primary departments conducted a storytelling session on Raksha Bandhan. The students were told the meaning of the festival and related it to the importance of trees and protecting the environment. The little students made beautiful Rakhis and took a pledge to protect the environment, as VRIKSHA BANDHAN.

Students of class I  celebrated the festival in great enthusiasm. They made rakhis using recycled materials like old buttons, old bindis, old ribbons/wool, pencil shavings, old decorative material from gift boxes and old craft paper. They also sang songs for their siblings.

Students of classes 2 and 3 made beautiful cards and rakhis using ribbons and other decorative materials to celebrate the joyful festival. They wrote down the best qualities of their siblings on the cards. They also reminisced funny and emotional incidents with their siblings and shared these with their friends in class.

Students of classes 4,5 and 6 stepped up by taking the digital medium to wish their dear ones. They made digital greeting cards which they later shared with their siblings and loved ones whom they have been missing immensely through these pandemic times. Although traditionally, a sacred thread is tied on the brother’s wrist by his sister, at our School, it is an occasion of sisters and brothers both tying rakhis on each others' wrists equally, as a mark of gender equality.

Feelings of love and goodwill were strengthened with utmost devotion. Students, in a beautiful way, promoted cultural harmony with their cards full of care, heartfelt notes and memories.
