Plogging to support SDG 6

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”- Mahatma Gandhi

In accordance with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal #6- ‘Clean water and Sanitation’, class III students organised a “Clean your surrounding” campaign on 26 February, 2020. The main purpose of this programme was to create awareness among the students regarding cleanliness and its benefits. Even the teachers were an essential part of this drive.

The drive comprised of assorted activities like plogging and cleaning the garden in the School’s vicinity, in order to instill in the old and young the importance of ‘Hygiene and Sanitation’, designing posters with stirring slogans and administering a pledge in the neighbourhood to keep homes, the locality and city clean.

The students with gloves and caps on their heads, beating the afternoon heat, went to the park next door picked up the litter, segregated it and then disposed it in the green and blue dustbins. They sensitised the people in the locality about the significance and urgent need to keep our city clean and green. It was a unique and a learning experience for all.
