Planetarium Show

The Indian School-Second Shift took a step ahead to widen the horizon of learning by organising a planetarium show named, The Orange Planetarium for the children of classes I III on 18th April 2015.

The aim of the show was to explore and unveil the universe and its facts. The children were introduced to the world of astronomy and celestial bodies with stories. These stories were presented as the children were seated in a 'portable' planetarium set up in the School auditorium. This helped the students to easily relate their knowledge to the real sky. The theme of the show was The stars in the sky for class I and Chanda Mama for class II.

The show organized for class I depicted star stories from different sky cultures like the fascinating story of the Moon and the Nakshatras. The show titled Chanda Mama enlightened the children with the different phases of the moon and how they are related to the hindu festivals. The show covered the lunar calendar as well. It also talked about Indian astronauts and their achievements.

After the show, the teachers had a discussion with the children about what they had learnt. It was followed by class activities like drawing the different phases of the moon, an astronomy quiz and drawing Outer Space from imagination. It was an enriching and thrilling experience to see a high definition digital sky at School!
