Nursery Orientation, 2018

An orientation for the parents of students admitted to Pre-School, Kindergarten and Class 1 was held on 21 April, 2018. As customary, the event was held to welcome and familiarise our new parents with the ethos of our School and the spirit underlying our methodology.

Parents arrived on time for the occasion and were welcomed by the TIS Senior School band with a bouquet of some wondrous musical renderings.

Colourful tables abundant with scrumptious refreshments were laid out and the parents were invited to help themselves as they enthusiastically interacted with the class teachers and their peers of the class.- As dusk fell, parents were ushered to the auditorium where the School Indian music teachers soulfully sang the customary Diya Jalao hymn as each set of parents lit a diya, symbolic of a little life entrusted to learning. The musical notes woven together by the harmonium, tabla and the flute, mellifluously lifted the occasion to a delicately joyous and yet solemn height.

At the end of 14 years, when the children leave School as young adults, the diyas will be handed to them, so that they, now well armed, can step out to light up the world. The little diyas placed by the parents in the slots on a wide metal stand gleamed bright and upright and the image of a 100 little flames on the arms of an unseen stand, was utterly uplifting.

Headmistress, Ms. Rajika Dixit welcomed the parents. She invited Alvira of class 5 and Shourya of Class 4 to compere the evenings programme, which they did with confidence and elan!

The young Foundationers greeted the audience with a melodious and inspirational song Nikal paro re bandhu with Dhairya on the tabla , Sarthak on the flute and Anshika on the keyboard!
