To commemorate the birth anniversary of the world renowned Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan, National Mathematics Day was observed at The Indian School-Second Shift on 22nd December, 2020.
At School, we observe all important occasions and make its significance across the classes, in an age appropriate manner.

National Mathematics Day was observed across the classes with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of the subject in day to day life and to explore a few mathematical concepts in a fun way.
As a part of the celebrations Pre School classes learned to draw facial features using numbers! The Pre primary students revised their skills of backward counting through a kite-making activity. The children thoroughly enjoyed this activity. Next, the students of class I made 3D models using the various shapes and also created abacus models and an analog clock.
Students of class II paid tribute to the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. His life, struggles and achievements were discussed using a power point presentation. This was followed by an activity based on multiplication using an array model as a tool.
The students of class III made creative spiders and snowflakes based on the multiplication tables. Classes IV and V created colourful ‘Factor Christmas trees’ and ‘Fraction Wheels’ to commemorate the occasion.
Students from classes VI to VIII participated in a quiz conducted virtually. The fun filled celebration of Math brought forth a very large participation of students.
It was a joyful day of learning for the students who exhibited unparalleled excitement in the activities. The activities planned for Mathematics Day were informative, engaging and entertaining.
