Learning in the lap of Mother Nature- trip to School eco park for classes 4 and 5
As said by William Shakespeare, One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
To enable children to experience the kinship between nature and us, people, 35 students of classes IV and V accompanied by 2 teachers visited the School eco park on Thursday, 17th January 2019.
Nature is the greatest source of learning and inspires everyone around to make for a better and harmonious world. It teaches about
life, farming, the food chain, bio diversity and so much more.
The bus journey was filled with singing and merry chatter. The lush fields and the sights of village folk going about their lives on either side of the bus, was a sight uncommon for our city raised children!

Soon we were at our destination and our young ecologists squealed in delight at the sight of row after row of fresh farm produce! Brinjals, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, beetroot, radish, sweet potato, mint and coriander were a splash of colours.
One of the objects of this educational excursion is to let the children learn first-hand. They thereby discover as they lessons of the classroom come alive in these environs. Living things, their physical form, shapes, texture, smells, etc were profusely demonstrated at the park. Exercises in describing words, rhyming words, descriptive narrations, etc were playfully absorbed as the children soaked in their rich and exhuberant surroundings.
Nature is a great teacher of art. It lends itself to developing observation skills, an aesthetic eye and a connect with ourselves. The students selected their own object of inspiration from the rich assortment nature and quickly sat down to transferring their creativities on paper.
The children were also walked through the park and were prompted to try a hand at picking the ready vegetables to carry back home. The farm animals like the rooster, geese and rabbits greatly amused the young visitors who spent time watching them and even petting them. They learnt the names of several new trees and plants.
The students curiosity to know about various life sized scientific models in the open air science lab set up at the park was delightful. The teachers briefed students about these models which were based upon the principles of physics.
At the end of a very productive and fresh morning the group headed back to School, carrying back their bags and satchels filled with produce personally picked for mommy back home!
