“One Flag, One Land. One heart, One Hand. One Nation, Evermore.”
The students celebrated the 75th anniversary of our independence on Friday, August 13, 2021.
Our school's Pre-School and Pre-Primary students engaged in a virtual assembly where they spoke about our country's most illustrious freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose. They were also told about the events that led to our country's independence. “Nanha munna Rahi Hu” and “We shall overcome” were soulfully sung by the young children. Later, the Pre School children presented patriotic dances. The programme concluded with the children singing the national anthem. In the craft class, the children were taught to craft tri colour paper lanterns.
Students of Class I made tricolour sandwiches using tomato, mayonnaise and coriander chutney, to represent the three colours of the national flag.
PPTs and videos were used to inform students in class 2 about Independence Day. With the help of a paper folding craft activity, the students created badges of the tricolour. Following the national anthem, the children sang “Hum honge kaamyaab” and “Nanha munna rahi hoon”.
Class 3 students held a special assembly on Independence Day. The celebration began with a short speech about how our freedom fighters willingly gave up their lives to ensure that we can live the lives we do now. Our singers did not disappoint in expressing their love for our country by presenting patriotic songs. The day concluded with a creative dance by the students, who impressed everyone with their deft moves. The students also made tricolour sandwiches with their friends and teachers.
The students of class 4, crafted headgear with the colours of our flag and expressing our nation's multi-faceted culture and heritage. They wore these with honour writ large on their faces. Poetry recitation was followed by a small skit on freedom fighters, to lend importance to their unforgettable role in our nation's freedom. Patriotic poems and songs were presented by both the teachers and the students by turn.
Class 5 students were shown a video on the significance of Independence Day and why we celebrate it. They were also shown presentations about Bhagat Singh and the lessons from his life. The students also made posters based on the slogan, “Inquilab Zindabad”.
Students in classes 6-8 discussed how India is rapidly changing by learning from the past. During the session, a class 8 turncoat debate was held on the topic "NRIs are packaged to turn India into a Developed Nation".
The 75th anniversary of India's independence commenced on a great high filled with new learning of timeless values.
