Honours at inter school SDG Fest 2020

“ I may win and I may lose, but I will never be defeated.” – Emmitt Smith

At The Indian School-Second Shift, we believe in empowering students to prioritise sustainable development in their lifestyle, behaviour, outlook and education.

The students of The Indian School-Second Shift participated in various virtual events at the ‘SDG FEST 2020’, organised by the Ahlcon International School. The theme of the fest was extremely topical and as the name suggests  the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event commenced on 8 September, 2020 and concluded on 25 September, 2020. Talented teams from around 40 schools of the country put forth their best performances in the virtual competition.

The aim of this competition was to sensitise young minds about the importance of sustainable development which is the need of the hour.

The young learners of Pre-school to class VIII were very enthusiastic to participate in events such as poem recitation, dance, podcast, salad making and art.

Kanav Singh, Class I student, dressed up in a unique and attractive costume, spoke on SDG 5: Gender Equality. He expressed his views on the ways gender equality can be achieved during the current pandemic. His depiction of a half man and a half woman was truly intriguing!

Aquib Jalil, class IV, narrated a self -composed story on the COVID 19 pandemic that has spread across the world and left many devastated. Through a podcast, he spoke on the various measures that can be undertaken to help the underprivileged members of our society. The podcast was published on Spotify, an online application.

Diya Mishra, class VIII, along with her teacher, Ms. Neeti Gupta,  participated in the event “I am the change maker of my world". Here they explained the ways in which The Indian School-Second Shift has played role in contributing to the environment through its citizenship programme.

The results of the competition were declared virtually on 25 September 2020 in an online event.

It is a matter of immense delight to share that Ransher Sharma of class III secured the third position for his poster on the theme “Super- Ninja- The saviour of SDGs. It had a powerful storyline on the measures that Super Ninja would take to protect the world from its modern day problems and help increase literacy by spreading an awareness about the importance of education.

The names of Kanav Singh, Aqib Jalil, Diya Mishra and Ms Neeti Gupta were granted Special Mention  for their remarkable performances and efforts in the events, Fashionista, Podcast and The Change Maker respectively.

The participants left no stone unturned to exhibit their talent. The students promised to make their planet a better place to live in and become torch bearers of the Sustainable Development Goals.
