Homage on Kargil Vijay Diwas
'If death strikes before I prove my blood, I swear I'll kill death.' Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year in India on 26th July to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War. The indian army had courageously fought and defeated the Pakistani forces, who were trying to illegally establish their control over Indian territory on the mountain tops of Northern Kargil in Ladakh in 1999.
This day is revered all over India in honour of the Kargil heroes. In the national capital, the Prime Minister of India pays homage at the National War Memorial every year.
To develop a feeling of patriotism and to sensitise students about the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers, The Indian School - Second Shift observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with great enthusiasm. Students of classes 6-10 participated in the activities.

The students of class 6 made collages of some of the brave soldiers like Captain Vikram Batra (Param Vir Chakra), Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav (Param Vir Chakra), Lieutenant Manoj kumar Pander (Param Vir Chakra), Lieutenant Balwan Singh (Maha Vir Chakra), Major Rajesh Singh Adhikari (Maha Vir Chakra), Rifleman Sanjay Kumar (Param Vir Chakra), Major Vivek Gupta (Maha Vir Chakra), Captain N Kenguruse (Maha Vir Chakra), Lieutenant Keishing Clifford Nongrum (Maha Vir Chakra), and Naik Digendra Kumar (Maha Vir Chakra).
The students of class 7 presented a graceful dance celebrating the valour and courage of our Indian soldiers and their powerful victory.
By classroom story telling sessions, students of classes 8 to 10 shared real life incidents of the soldiers, the difficulties they faced during the war, their inspiring experiences and how bravely they laid their lives to protect their fellow Indians and their motherland.
The students were greatly motivated by the stories of our brave heart soldiers and felt a sense of solidarity, patriotism and oneness. We hope that exercises of Citizenship, such as these, will enhance our young future citizens to become responsible and holistic adults.
