Gandhi Jayanti celebrations

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”- Mahatma Gandhi

The students of The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Gandhi Jayanti at a special assembly class wise, on 1st October 2020, to commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Students of Pre-school and Pre-primary dressed as Bapu spoke lines to name the values dear to him. They then sang Bapu’s favourite bhajan "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram". The children were acquainted with Gandhi ji through his simplicity of dress, his spectacles and walking stick.

  

 

Class I students were introduced to Bapu's life and role in gaining India’s independence, using a video clip. The students sang Bapu's favourite hymns and did a role play to portray the life and values dear to him.

Class II students enacted scenes from Gandhiji's life and spoke a few lines by turn, to explain the values of hygiene, truthfulness and freedom. Students were told about his personal possessions which became symbols of our freedom struggle. The class was also taken on a virtual tour of the Sabarmati Ashram.

Not leaving any leaf unturned, class III  showcased intriguing facts about the Bapu and reciting a powerful poem in his honour. The students also took a pledge of cleanliness on the occasion.

Students of class IV designed  3-D art posters. At their assembly, the students recalled the principles of Gandhi –discipline, honesty and peace. They shared how we must channel anger into constructive work in our lives. They also articulated the importance of embracing environment-friendly initiatives.

Class V students paid tribute to Father of the Nation with his beloved bhajan  "Vaishnav Jan To, Tene Kahiye..". Students articulated Gandhi’s beliefs and contribution.

The assemblies concluded with the national anthem which filled everyone with a stirring of patriotism for our motherland.
