Fun-filled trip to National Bal Bhavan, Pre-primary.
Education, away from the classroom environment is both productive and invigorating. This was seen clearly, when the children of pre-primary at TFS went visiting the National Bal Bhavan at Mandi House, on 1 September, 2015. The children were in high spirits as they looked forward to the day. They were not let down as there was alot in store for them. At the entrance was a visual treat of enchanting art and handicraft. The items made of paper, plastic, wood, cane, cloth and more. The children were particularly intrigued to see the grand display of animal masks on the walls.
The next stop was the popular Mini Train ride. The little ones screamed and clapped in excitement at the sight of the train. Hopping on to the vehicle, the children took a joyride round the place. They had the privilege of feasting their eyes on the entire campus in one go. The train also passed by one of the star attractions of National Bal Bhavan, The Culture & Crafts Village. The children saw models of small huts, swings, a well and women standing by to draw water, a cow with a calf, a bull and a farmer etc. recreating a classic village setting. Enthralling cultural graffiti of all the states of India was splashed across the walls. The teachers read out the names of the states one after another as the train raced ahead. The young travellers cheered as the train passed through the tunnel.

Children adore animals and our little wildlife lovers were in for more amusement when they saw a variety of birds and animals in the Mini Zoo at the venue. Birds ranging from pigeons, parrots, mynas, cuckoos, partridges and ducks to animals like guinea pigs and rabbits entertained the children like never before. The animals stared back at the spectators in a seeming gesture of greeting! The children not only saw the animals, they also learnt about their food habits, adaptation and parental care. At the Aquarium they were left wide-eyed at the vast collection of delicate fish. The children were grinning from ear to ear watching the tiny fish gracefully swimming in their ample glass cases. The children kept talking about Tiger Sharks, Widow Barbs and more long after leaving the fish corner.
The objective of the visit was to provide a first-hand experience for children to learn and explore on their own. The happy faces of the children spoke of the success of this visit. Soon it was time to pile into the buses and head back. On reaching School, they were eager to share their experiences- some drew, some spoke and some wrote a few lines of description. A wonderful educational trip filled with fun, discovery, energy, information and most importantly, knowledge.
