Fathers Day celebrations

Your arms are always open when I need a hug, your heart understands when I need a friend. Your gentle eyes are stern when I need a lesson. Your strength and love guides me and gives me wings to fly.

A fathers selfless love and care is pivotal in nurturing a child and there cannot be a more universal celebration than the one that celebrates the accomplishments and efforts of every father! Keeping this bonding in mind the Pre-School and Pre-Primary classes of The Indian School-Second Shift celebrated Fathers Day on 20th May, 2017.

The auditorium thronged with dads ( and uncles where a dad could not make it), excited to watch their children perform! The tiny tots warmly welcomed their dads with an invocation Hum Nuune Munne Bache followed by medley of songs Mere Uncle Michael, and Mere Papa Office Chale, etc.

Head teacher, Ms. Susan Thomas offered a heart warming welcome, wishing all the dads on their special day. To make the celebration, even more special, a game was set up for the fathers of pre school, where a song was played from the fathers' generation, which had to be identified and then sung aloud for a prize! The enthusiasm was electric as our eager contestants made a keen pitch. Every time a piece was played, multiple voices rang out to offer the answer! The winner took the gift.

The fun filled atmosphere was again transfused with melody by our little ones, who gleefully sang My papa plays ball with me, I have a special friend, I love my daddy, Happy Fathers Day, Happy Uncles Day, etc. The smiles stretched as the sentiments surfed on the loving faces of the indulgent dads.

Next on the schedule was an interesting game Fun with Shapes specially planned for the Pre-Primary dads, where they were invited on the stage with their children, after a draw of lots Before the game, the instructions were amply explained. The contestants were judged on the basis of their creativity and their teamwork. Here too the winners took the gifts.

Next was a dance choreographed on the popular songs Papa kehte hain, Daddy cool, Sunshine in my pocket. The children looked utterly endearing as they jiggled and wiggled to the peppy music!

A vote of thanks concluded the proceeding, as our dear fathers were led for refreshments.
