Easter celebrations in junior school

"Easter is the demonstration of God that life is essentially spiritual and timeless."

— Charles M. Crowe

Easter is one of the principal holidays, or feasts, of Christianity. It marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. For many Christian churches, Easter is the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitence. As a school we believe that it is important to celebrate different cultures and religions to imbibe tolerance and open-mindedness amongst our students.

Pre school celebrated the festival with a story telling session on "The Easter Holiday". After the story, the children did Easter Bunny craft using recycled materials like egg cartons, paints and googly eyes. The students had fun and enjoyed the activity.

To celebrate the occasion of Easter the tiny tots of Pre-primary made beautiful disposable cup Easter bunnies!! The students had a fun and joyous celebration while learning about the importance of this holy day.

The students of class 1 made Easter eggs. Paper cut outs of eggs were handed to the students and they decorated these with a tear and paste activity. They were also told about the importance of Easter.

Class 2 was told about the festival and the children made beautiful eggs and decorated these with paints, stickers etc. The activity fostered the creativity skills of the students even as they engaged with their peers.

All in all, the students had a fun and joyous celebration while learning about the importance of the occasion. Regardless of the traditions one follows, the spiritual meaning of Easter offers renewed light after sacrifice or tribulation.
