Earth Day Celebrations across the classes

"The Earth is what we all have in common." Wendell Berry

To commemorate Earth Day, students from Pre School to Class 10 participated in a series of enriching and engaging activities aimed at spreading awareness about environmental protection and sustainability. The celebration across School was filled with creativity, knowledge sharing, and hands'-on experiences to foster love and responsibility towards our planet.

The tiny tots of Pre School Sparrow celebrated Earth Day by listening to a story titled "Happy Earth". Through this story, they learned about the 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. In the craft session, they enjoyed thumb printing on  newspaper cut-outs and balloon stamping, which also helped to strengthen their fine motor skills.

The Pre Primary Dove students were engaged in an interactive storytelling session focused on caring for the earth. Following the story, the children participated in a hand-printing activity using the colours, blue and green to create a beautiful representation of Earth. They also coloured pictures of the planet, reinforcing the message of love and care for the environment.

The students of class 1 enjoyed a nature walk in the School garden where they collected fallen leaves and twigs and used these materials to create simple nature collages. The activity helped students understand the importance of trees and how nature can be reused creatively.

Students of Class 2 showed great enthusiasm in making and colouring posters of the Earth. They also wrote thoughtful quotes on saving water, using solar energy, saving trees, and the 3 R's – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Their creativity and awareness were evident in this small yet meaningful contribution towards a green and peaceful planet.

As part of the Earth Day celebrations, class 4 students created unique “ eco-characters” using waste materials such as bottles, tins, cartons, and fabric scrap. Drawing inspiration from characters in their Oxford English textbook, this integrated art and English activity encouraged environmental responsibility and creativity.

The students of class 5 participated in a Slogan Writing and Poster Making Activity. They expressed their concern for the environment through powerful slogans and colourful posters, touching on themes such as water conservation, tree plantation, pollution reduction, and animal protection.

Class 6 celebrated Earth Day by creating eye-catching headgear and posters. Each headgear carried a slogan, displaying the students’ awareness and commitment towards preserving nature.

On Earth Day, class 7 shared their knowledge about how plants receive nutrition from Earth. They discussed the vital roles of soil, water, and sunlight in plant growth. They also designed posters, slogans, and presentations to educate others on environmental issues.

Students of class 9 took part in a creative slogan writing activity to express their environmental consciousness. The slogans reflected a strong commitment towards a greener and cleaner future and highlighted their understanding of current ecological concerns.

To celebrate Earth Day, class 10 students were taken on a campus tour to observe and study the various plants and trees. They identified the various tree species based on their leaf shape and colour, and then created QR codes to provide detailed information about each tree. This activity not only deepened their knowledge of local flora but also made the information accessible for others through digital means.

Earth Day 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and creativity across all the classes. The variety of age-appropriate activities helped students understand the importance of environmental protection and instilled a deep sense of responsibility to care for our planet. The celebration served as a reminder that small efforts by each individual can collectively lead to a significant positive impact on Mother Earth.
