Drama and Speech Session

Date- 1.05.2015 A Speech and Drama session was organised by The Indian School-Second Shift for the students of class III and class II in the Lilliput area on 1 May, 2015 for Literary Week. The first session of the session began with a discussion on animals in which the children were asked to distinguish between wild and pet animals. This was followed by an exercise where the children were made to role play as their favourite animals. It was a delight to see the students mimic the sounds of their favourite animals! They even attempted the walk of the animals! This exercise easily piqued the curiosity amongst the children and they quickly made a momentum for the activity. They recalled their best loved animal stories and upon prompting, even remembered the values learnt from the stories. In the next session, a story was partially narrated to the students with the help of pictures. As brain-teasers, the children were asked to complete the story themselves in a unique way. We sat back in amazement as several children came up with novel ideas, some infused with emotions, others with a moral or two, up yet others with elements of nature etc.
