Classes 7 and 8 visits Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya
Students of classes 7 and 8 of The Indian School - Second Shift, accompanied by their teachers got the opportunity to visit 'Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya' on 4th August 2023. The visit provided the group with an immersive experience at a one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to the Prime Ministers of India. They got the chance to connect with the country’s past, and to explore the legacy of our Prime Ministers and their efforts to build India.
The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya is a tribute to every Prime Minister of India since Independence, and a narrative record of how each one has contributed to the development of our nation over the last 75 years. It showcases how each prime minister left an important footprint on the journey of development, social harmony and economic empowerment that has enabled India to give true meaning to freedom.

The Teen Murti Estate, home to India’s first Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru for 16 years, provides the natural environment for Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, symbolising a story of continuity.
The students began their guided tour at the renovated and refurbished Nehru Museum building, now completely updated with technologically advanced displays on the life and contribution of Shri Jawaharlal Nehru. They then witnessed the 'Toshakhana', which exhibits a large number of rare gifts received by our various prime ministers from all over the world. The children learnt about the incredible journey of the freedom struggle, the trauma of partition and the making of a great constitution. The photographs and videos along with each section of the museum helped them understand each historical event. Information collected through resources / repositories with institutions such as Prasar Bharti, Doordarshan, Film Division, Sansad TV, Ministry of Defence, Media Houses (Indian and foreign), Foreign News Agencies, etc. has been effectively used to project historical facts and figures about India since 1945.
The next stop for the students was the new building of the estate, where they explored holograms, virtual reality, augmented reality, multi-touch, multimedia, interactive kiosks, computerized kinetic sculptures, smartphone applications, interactive screens, experiential installations etc. which enabled the students to delve into the era of each esteemed Prime Minister virtually. They gathered knowledge about India's development in science and technology, nuclear energy, arms and ammunition and overall economic stature, and the pivotal role that each Prime Minister played in these sectors. The 'Time Machine' was a special attraction for the students and they enjoyed the concept of watching the journey of India's progress on screen with mesmerising visual effects.
The estate also has beautiful lush gardens, where the children enjoyed their tiffins and had a group discussion about their experience.
The Sangrahalaya provides a brilliantly structured set up for children to know their country's prime ministers, their lives, struggles, contribution and sacrifices, which has ultimately given its present shape to our great country. Our students were fortunate to fathom that "there are greater horizons to conquer as we transform India into New India", which is the message that this place aims to convey to the young new generation.
