Classes 5, 7, 8 and 9 at the World Book Fair

The Indian School-Second Shift organised educational visits to the World Book Fair for the students of different classes on different days. Class 9 visited the fair on February 3, 2025, followed by Classes 7 and 8 on February 4, and finally, Class 5 students on February 7.

The visit aimed to encourage students to explore the world of books, interact with authors, and enhance their reading habits. At the fair, students visited multiple book stalls, including Wonderland, Rupa Publications, NBT, Harper Collins, Niyogi Books, and Scholastic. These stalls displayed a wide variety of books, from fiction and non-fiction to educational and children's literature. Students browsed through numerous titles and learned about different genres, book publishing processes, and the significance of reading.

A major highlight of the visit was an author-meet at Prakashan Books. Students had an insightful session with author Pragati Surekha, who introduced her new book, "My First Book of Emotions". At this session, the students gained a deeper understanding of emotional well-being and the importance of expressing their feelings in a healthy way. Additionally, a colouring session was organised for the students. It was an engaging activity that encouraged creativity and artistic expression. Winners of the colouring session were rewarded with storybooks, further motivating them to develop a habit of reading.

The visit to the World Book Fair was an enriching experience for all students. It not only broadened their knowledge about books and literature but also inspired them to read more and develop a lifelong love for learning. The interaction with an author and participation in creative activities made the visit more engaging and meaningful. Such experiences play a crucial role in nurturing young minds and fostering a culture of reading among students.
